Cannot believe this was now over 13 years ago! This was when I was involved with games typically mobsters on myspace back in the day. I wrote all sorts of software as shown below. I can't even remember half these programs now. I was very busy bunny back in those days! Likely part of the reason I have RSI these days as well!
It was when I ran my gaming forum and wrote "war rooms" which were advanced chatroom for players.
Remember I had all sorts of fights with people trying to hack my software. I sure learned a lot! in the end only the GUI was installed people's computers. the bulk of the programming was actually php scripts which ran on my server. this way people did not have a valid subscription then the server would simply not run those scripts. who basically made it pointless people trying to hack the program at that point. though there was of course a small number of users who reinstalled windows every three days to continue the free trial. That was another level of chaos was ultimately solved as well.
I think one of my first commercial leases was "Keep Connected" back in the old dial-up days. This is going back over 20 years ago now!

Sadly the program got cracked because it was a typical case of "skipping" the registration check in only 1 part of the program made it very easy to hack :( Live and learn I guess
I actually got CNET Editors Choice JAN/2002 as well. Sadly I think I only sold about seven copies :( I mostly wrote the program for myself anyway ,because back in the day you was disconnected from the Internet every two hours. All the auto reconnect programs I tried basically sucked. I remember getting some very nice letters saying how well my program worked back in the day!
