Cyber Legends V2 Basic Competition

And we’re already in August and with Cyber Legends V2 not far away now in October.

So here’s the announcement and Rules for the Basic Coding Competition.

Starting from today, Sunday 6th August, the competition is to write a scene type demo but with a difference, it must be written in an uncompiled basic and on hardware that was available in the 1980s. Full details below.

1) the program must be written so that it can be run on original 80s hardware and must be demonstrated on that hardware during the Cyber Legends event. Of course you can write it in your emulator but it must be run from original hardware.
2) It must be programmed in basic and not compiled, AMOS & STOS and similar programs are not allowed, ideally the Basic language will be that which was originally contained in Rom for that computer or where a tape or disc is used to load the basic language it must be that which was originally supplied by the machine manufacturer.
3) The program can be whatever type of program you like but preferred is scene type demos or games and it must have been freshly written after the competition start date above.
4) Cheating is not allowed UNLESS it is seriously inspirational cheating, then you'll get 1 free pass per inspirational cheat.
5) Judging panel can enter competition if they'd like but their opinion of their own program should be done fairly and in comparison to all other submitted
6) Cheating is also allowed if nobody can prove you cheated.
7) Bonus points for mentioning the exxos forum in your demo
8) Even more bonus points if forum members are characters in your demo
9) Sabotaging other peoples entries is allowed as long as you don't get caught, then its a chair smacking from exxos.
10) Judges decisions are final but cash is accepted to bias the results (cash donated to charity obviously!)
11) The above rules can be changed at any time.
12) Silliness is encouraged. Please do not enter the competition if you are easily offended, argumentative or have received more than 10 chair smackings from @exxos in the last 6 months.

And finally, if all entrees can please post that they will be entering, which hardware and basic language they will be using and a basic description of the program you will be submitting.

Let’s make it fun, doesn’t matter if it runs at 1fps etc etc.

Any program that shows off the skill of the programmer and capabilities of the machine, whether it be animation, sine scrolls, a game or something similar.

Or something like that.

I’ll be hoping to enter a program for my BBC B on the day, probably graphics and music demo of some description.

I'd like to see that work on a real Spectrum. Probably one frame an hour.
