Hello from Devon

Post by burdens1962 »

Hi All,

Big fan of 70s and 80s computers and tech. Used to attend practically every London computer show throughout 80s and very early 90s.

Back in 80s I owned everything I could .. 48K Spectrum, Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Atari 520 STFM, Atari 1040 STFM, Atari 1040 STe, Atari Mega STe, Amiga 1000 (Miss that one), Amiga 500, Amiga 500+, Acorn Archimedes.

Today I have Atari 1040 STe with Gotec, Ultrasatan and redirected mouse / joystick ports moved to rear. Use with MT-32 clone and Yamaha KB.
I also have Amiga 500+ with Gotec and internal 8MB fast Ram and Compactflash. Also has rgb2hdmi mod .. hires with no flicker.
And an Acorn Electron with Elksd128.

For the future .. I need a bigger desk / workshop.

:D

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I like the priority given to the study/office/workshop in this impending move!

I'm being 'persuaded' (some might say "forced" is a more accurate description) that we are massively downsizing when we next move house (and my better half is targetting that for about 2 years from now)...

The only upside might be that we manage to 'persuade' our kids to relocate a lot of their belongings out of our house & into their own accommodation (assuming we successfully launch them off to further education...hence the 2 year timescale as the youngest is about to get exam results & go on to 6th form)...

Ouch!!

What you need is to move to a bigger house, so that when you retire you can sell up and THEN move to somewhere smaller. In the intervening years you'll have lots of hobby space, and then you'll have money for your retirement and a few targeted retro machines :)
