I know I'm going to kick the cat here but for me, those plates will
*never* be broken until I actually open the door. The "potential"
for them to be broken exists in my mind, but the actuality of it
doesn't.
Go ahead, tell me what a complete loony I am.
PS This also assumes that there's no intervention, such as me
catching the plates before they fall...

Reminds me of my plates during the 2011 year earthquake here...
I managed to save them all after I opened the door.
Even my printer was hanging in the air (thanks to its USB cable) and had nothing but a scratch.
