Yes your nut looks perfectly safe. No need to worry about it becoming molten until at least light yellow. :lol:

I wonder how much amperage that is?

I'm mildly impressed at the insulation tape for not having melted off already.

I believe it's simply a thermal indicator light, and simply means 'Hot, do not touch'.

If only soldering irons had such indicators...
