CDTV not booting from IDE
Hi,
I had a TF536 built for me in late 2021, and due to some personal issues, I've only just this past week installed it as well as some other bits and pieces.
As well as the TF536, I have Extended ROMs v2.35 installed, Hyperion's KS 3.2.2 and the RGB2HDMI v2 for CDTV.
With no CD inserted, when I power on my CDTV, I am presented with either the spinning disc logo, or the insert floppy screen (depending on JP15 being open or closed).
The CDTV will boot from CD.
The problem is, that it will not boot from IDE.
I have an IDE->SD adapter in my A1200 and A4000, and the SD card boots fine in those.
I have tried the IDE->SD adapter that came with the TF536 in my A1200, and it works OK.
So, what could be the issue?
Cheers,

Does the TF536 boot from IDE in other machines (A500 etc)? Are you on the latest firmware?

Re: CDTV not booting from IDE
I don’t have another machine to test in unfortunately. I only have an A1200 and A4000. As for the firmware, whatever it came with in October 2021 is still what’s in it.terriblefire wrote: 01 May 2023 22:01 Does the TF536 boot from IDE in other machines (A500 etc)? Are you on the latest firmware?
I’m guessing there is a newer version?

Re: CDTV not booting from IDE
I did a CDTV/A570 specific update at Xmas there. Where are you based and do you remember who sold you the 536?PsygnoChris wrote: 01 May 2023 22:06I don’t have another machine to test in unfortunately. I only have an A1200 and A4000. I'm in Fort William, though travel to Glasgow quite regularly (I'll be there this coming Saturday), and yes I do recall and am messaging him here too.terriblefire wrote: 01 May 2023 22:19 I did a CDTV/A570 specific update at Xmas there. Where are you based and do you remember who sold you the 536?

I'm not around this weekend or id offer to look at it. I do go to Barcaldine/Appin regularly during the summer but i'm not usually equipped for Amiga repairs.PsygnoChris wrote: 02 May 2023 06:16 I'm in Fort William, though travel to Glasgow quite regularly (I'll be there this coming Saturday), and yes I do recall and am messaging him here too.

Thanks. I've arranged to ship back to the seller who has very kindly agreed to take a look.terriblefire wrote: 02 May 2023 08:11 I'm not around this weekend or id offer to look at it. I do go to Barcaldine/Appin regularly during the summer but i'm not usually equipped for Amiga repairs.

Re: CDTV not booting from IDE
Ok, so this is driving me a little bit nuts. I've had my TF536 returned. It's installed but will still not boot from IDE. However, if I boot from a floppy, then the 64MB RAM shows up, as well as the HDD (well, SD card) contents are available.

Do you have any upcoming trips to Glasgow planned?PsygnoChris wrote: 12 May 2023 20:05 Ok, so this is driving me a little bit nuts. I've had my TF536 returned. Re: CDTV not booting from IDE
At the moment, I'm down for the Peter Gabriel gig on 22nd June, then not again until Saturday 22nd July.
I'd be more than happy to bring the whole CDTV unit down to you at some point and leave it with you for a while.
