Hi,
I have an issue that shows upon coldstart with my TF1230.
When i coldstart the Amiga the powerled comes on and the harddisk-light is lit for about 15 seconds and then goes off and thats about whats happening. Black screen, no floppydrive-clicking. I have to reset the Amiga (Ctrl+A+A) several times before it starts to boot properly into workbench.
The machine is recapped erlier and this was no problem before i got the TF1230-card, the Amiga worked flawlessly. I have a new aftermarket PSU from Amigastore.eu.
It's just when coldbooting the problem shows, when i get it working it is very stable. No guru meditations. hangups or so. But on next coldboot powering on the Amiga, the same... i have to reset, reset, reset and after about 4-5 resets it finally boots.
I have a Indivision AGA MK3 flickerfixer
A CF2IDE-reader directly mounted on the IDE-connector of the Amiga motherboard, so no cable. With a 32 GB CF-card.
Kickstart ROM 3.2.2 (Hyperion) and Workbench 3.2.2.1
Tried to reseat the TF1230-card, clean connector with isoprop alcohol.
If i remove the TF1230-card, the Amiga boots on first try at coldstart.
Someone have any tips?

Re: TF1230 boot issue coldstart
a little update:
Took out the CF2IDE-card with the CF-card and tried a coldstart without it and it works fine. The screen shows kickstart-screen and the floppydrive is clicking. I also can boot on a floppydisk.
So the problem is clearly a combination of the CF-card and/or the CF2IDE-card in combination with the TF1230.

There are several versions of CF adaptor not all of them work. VH2 is the one that works i believe.martenj76 wrote: 27 Apr 2023 09:13 a little update:

As Terribfire says, the most reliable CF adapter is the ver VH.2, if you need one and are in the UK contact me and I can supply one nice and cheap:)

Re: TF1230 boot issue coldstart
Thanx for your replies guys :)
I wonder if it has something to do with buffered CF-cards or if they are not? I can't find any info about if the CF2IDE-card is buffered or not.
Looked at the VH2-card and i personally like it neat and tidy inside the Amiga and not having the card hanging loose in the IDE-cable. That's why i fell for the CF2IDE-card :)
Well obviously i can't have both

You need to use very short cables with the 1230 (5cm), if you don't have a buffered IDE interface.

I have this exact issue on my own TF1230. However, I have a VH2 adapter with a 5cm cable and the problem is very much present, exactly as described here (using the on board IDE as I've not really figured out how to make use of the one on the expansion card yet).

I will be revisiting the TF1230 soon as the TF1232 is arriving shortly.blongden wrote: 21 May 2023 11:48 I have this exact issue on my own TF1230.
