FU**ERS!

Yeah I drove in a bus lane "intentionally" while proven on the camera I was even avoiding driving in the bus lane.

Just more reasons why I hate driving and despise going anywhere near any town centres with their stupid rules and bad signage everywhere.

Appeal. I always appeal. And keep appealing until I get a hearing. Once you're sitting in front of your accuser they back down. When you're anonymous in an email on a computer they are just going to click "computer says no".

Yeah you have to appeal this - you were clearly moving to avoid driving in the bus lane. And it's not even clear that it is a bus lane, just appears to be a bus stop with no solid line along it.

Just had a look at this.

Crikey! This is crazy. It seems like you'd have got into less trouble for actually hitting the back of a bus whilst in the bus lane! At least the insurance would have covered it.

Like @matt.lacey says, there's no continuous (i.e. non passable) or any red lines in the road.

And from what I can see in the picture, there is barely enough of a gap on the 'regular' part of the road to actually avoid the bus lane lines.

The other factor is if there is *any* sort of signage to warn about this abomination a few yards back?

If the answer is 'no' then I would most definitely concur with the other gents here and tell you to take it to court.

I don't know if you have been taken to court before, but if you can represent a reasonable argument (literally like you just did above) and there were no signs warning you to stay out of the bus lane, then Im pretty confident that the consideration of the judges to waive the fine could certainly be a good possibility.

I would even offer to represent you in court legally, if you lived a bit closer (I'm sure Ive got a suit around here somewhere!) :)

The problem is the time involved with all this and how long it would drag on for  I just really do not have the energy for it all.

You need to read the whole page and then read the links at the bottom because there are already investigations and thousands of people protesting against this.

The road is basically closed to all traffic other than buses and taxis. But as you can see from the road markings there is just inadequate signage everywhere.

They have signs basically as you exit the roundabout but as stated in my article they are too similar looking to the directional arrow signs and obviously thousands of people are easily missing them. By the time you see the signs it is basically too late anyway.

Drivers are protesting to have simply the red do not entry signs put there.. But this has been ongoing for some years now it seems. Why would the council be any hurry to fix the problem when they are making millions in fines

In actual fact looking on street view I even missed a larger sign which is like half a mile back down the road. Ordinarily shouldn't they have signs for the roundabout actually next to the roundabout not half mile down the road ?!

The council will just say there is adequate signage according to the current road regulations blah blah. So they are basically "in the right". They do have times of day like after 7pm when you can legally go down there, but I am going around a corner and looking where I am going not trying to read every single piece of text on the sigh. I think they are pretty tiny as well

If I had gone down a do not enter road, then sure I would happily accept a fine. But they do not have a do not entry sign there because of the exceptions of the buses. But again people are protesting that they should have a do not enter sign there. Buses know fully well they can go down there legally, so there really would not be any problem in just simply changing the sign or just simply adding do not enter sign above the buses exception sign. But basically as soon as you have turned left on the main roundabout is too late.

And yes, you can quite clearly see I was avoiding the bus lane is not like I intentionally and knowingly turned left at that roundabout to deliberately drive down the bus lane.

The whole thing is just basically ridiculous. :cussing:

If anyone wants to look at the junction. Though be careful because the map jumps to 2019 where the signs are not there at all.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.92365 ... 8192?hl=en

But you can see the left blue arrows look identical to the blue signs on the left.

Then as you basically exit you see the signs (or not) but at that point it is too late anyway.

DO NOT ENTER
BUSES / TAXIS/ BIKES EXCEPTIONS

Even in the image you can see a car has clearly gone down that road not seen the signs either.

Oh I see it now. Man that sucks. The fact that the street is totally empty just highlights that it's going to waste anyway.

Worth appealing just because of the uproar around it. Add a Derby-Council-Are-Crooks donation product to the store, I'll chip in a fiver.
