I noticed as well. I read it as just a touch of arrogance, combined with being genuinely excited about the car he owns. So he produces this combination of trying to control the situation a bit, while also being really interested to observe people's reactions to him and his car. I think he's probably actually a decent guy, just a bit of a misfit. I know the type.

I never understood why Michael Knight used to say "KITT turbo boost" and then press the turbo boost button

Wasn't one of the best lines ever "only you could scratch this car Michael"

I half remember something years ago about a stunt they did where KITT was launched and clipped the side of a wall or something ? I think it was one of the most dangerous stunts they did. But it was so long ago I cannot really remember much about it now.

I got to drive a replica back in 2019 and the wires hanging out everywhere were mad. There want the attention to detail like the one in the video.
