I used to have a Runco with 7" tubes back in the day. Man that thing was a beast. Sure did produce a gorgeous picture when I was all dialled in perfectly though. And it did 1080p no sweat in the days most people were still on 576i.

Based on the description of the flaw, I'd suspect dried up caps, which could be a really easy fix.

But if you get it and can't fix it, you've got a gigantic, heavy paperweight on your hands.
