PAK/3 TOS 3.06: UK Version?

Post by stephen_usher »

I've found and am using the USA localised version of the PAK/3 TOS 3.06 ROM with my ST+TF536. Other than HDDriver 10 not wanting to boot from the UltraSATAN with it installed, it gives a far better compatibility with PP's game conversions than EmuTOS and it's fully 030 aware, unlike TOS 2.06.

The only real fly in the ointment is the keyboard mapping and localisation are for the USA and not UK.

Is there a UK version I can download and write to a 512K ROM?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I can't help with the UK version, sorry, but I was just wondering if this
is a TF536 issue because the modified US TOS v3.06 set that I use here
with a Pak 68/3 board boots fine with HDDriver v11.x. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that it is a TF536 issue as it would boot with an earlier version of the firmware, but that didn't tell the OS about the TT-RAM from what I remember.

Give my build of 206 a try ? It's got all the 306 030 stuff from 306 anyway.

I could do, but then PP's loader wouldn't recognise the machine as a TT and hence doesn't apply the 68030 patches. Unfortunately he doesn't look at the cookies for CPU etc. and does his own thing to determine the machine and then assume the CPU from that.

Sounds a bit crap :( PP has his own forum I think.. You could ask him to fix the problem..

Is this for his games, you mean?

I had this on the Falcon with EmuTOS. It was enough to patch the TOS version.

PP is PP. I remember when I first joined this forum and he threatened to ban me for posting a ZOO archive.

Yes. Well, PP's loaders have a whole other level of incompatibility with EmuTOS. :-)

Yeah, he has an extreme antipathy to EmuTOS, I know, but most worked with it set to 0404.

What I meant was, try 2.06, but just change the 2 to a 3. :)
