Indeed in relation to advertising this has already happend before with TV programs. Its been for a long time like half hour of adverts and 5mins of program kinda thing. I gave up watching TV around 15 years ago as just got sick of it all. I remember I was trying to watch StarTrek or something on sky once. Adverts came on.. Went off and made myself a drink.. came back.. adverts still on.. went off made myself a sandwich , came back.. adverts still on.. Well you get where this is going.. Next thing I new there was a film on.
I stopped watching the news and looking at papers about 20 years ago. Just endless doom and gloom which can't do anything about. "just put up with it all" and carry on seems to be the way these days. Like my drive home at night.. drive around the smashed up cars and just carry on. Its just "ground-hog day" with everything.
Of course the endless stupid comments and meme share is all facebook seems to be these days. Not many actual posts from people, just pages of adverts to scroll past in the hope of finding something half looking at.. and hope it isn't several pages of sarcasm.
I saw this in our local town group..
I've talked to a few people around our town and people don't bother with FB anymore because they also sick of just endless sarcasm.
I remember how facebook used to be, a total mess of chaos, but it was at least fun and had plenty to waste time on if you wanted to. Now to me its not really serving any sort of function anymore. The users killed the platforms for the most part. Stuffing with adverts to make a quick-buck doesn't help.
So IMHO, unless there is a moderated social media platform which is moderated properly (like this forum) then I don't see any social media platform taking off. Unless your a "fresh-man" and join platforms as its "trendy" to do or enjoys endless sarcasm or have the IQ of a potato I guess.
