Hi all,
I am selling an SGI Octane. I've listed it over on Amibay:
https://www.amibay.com/threads/sgi-octa ... e.2439258/
Quite a nice spec, it's hard to find models with PCI card cages installed. This has a Gigabit ethernet card in the cage. Pickup only from Coventry. It's got TRAM texture memory, so yes it plays Quake ;D

I have a couple of Octanes, though one has a fault.
The one that works though has dual CPUs and a ton of RAM, I can't remember the video subsystem, though I know it plays Doom.
Good luck with the sale, I feel like powering up my own now :)

These machines were the heavy lifters in the radio astronomy department at uni when I was doing my fourth year project. :)
I back-tracked far infra-red photons from a conceptual area on the sky through an electromagnetic model of the universe to the last scattering surface after the big bang to calculate the expected changes in polarisation due to gravitational lensing in an effort to evaluate whether it was worth building an instrument to try to measure this.
These were meaty beasts. It only took one overnight run per bitmap, from memory.
Lovely machine. Hope you get decent value for it. I am, alas, already over machined and under timed.

PS. the answer was 'no'.

Machine is still available. Will also consider swapping for either a 3dfx Voodoo 2 SLI 12mb set or a V5 5500 for my retro gaming setup.
