Am I going to run in to any issues if I install a US Rom in as PAL ST(Unit shipped with German 1.02 TOS)?
I understand that it may boot up tos to 60hz and many eu region games will switch to 50hz anyway.
I’m using rgbhv to a scaler and the video output won’t affect my setup. My unit does not have an rf modulator.
I’m mostly worried about game compatibility. Should I get a UK English rom instead of a US Rom?
Everyone here has been so helpful. Thanks again.

Re: US Rom in a PAL ST
I've run games in 60hz just to get a larger screen. But music sometimes runs slower.
I think it would be difficult to answer your question with so much software out there. If you have the ROMs already then just try them..

I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work. At least as long as you don't use the modulator.Porklaser wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 6:22 pm Am I going to run in to any issues if I install a US Rom in as PAL ST(Unit shipped with German 1.02 TOS)?
I don't think it will create a compatibility problem either. Very few titles require a specific video frequency. And for those few cases that require 50 Hz (and won't switch to 50 Hz by themselves), there is a small boot program that would switch frequency for you.
There a couple, may be handful, of titles that have region locking. But as you could guess, they have an US version that you can use instead.
The TOS version, not the country or region, is much more important for compatibility purposes. If you would install TOS 2.06, you do would get some compatibility issues, but they would be almost the same regardless the TOS country. If you care about compatibility, install TOS 1.2, or even TOS 1.0 if you would run mostly games from floppies.

The most annoying part, if you don’t change the keyboard, will be keyboard mapping. I guess if your current ROM is German you might have a German QWERTZ keyboard, but with an US ROM it will be mapped as an US keyboard.
