Hello! New to the Atari ST.
I recently picked up a 1040STF with German 102 TOS roms (2 chip). It looks like I have a C103414-001 REV. 1 motherboad (I have not seen pictures of this particular motherboad elsewhere. Some similar with the RF modulator, but this one is without.
Are the dual TOS kits compatible with this motherboard? I'd like to be able to switch between 102 and 104 US rom. I understand I may need to desolder the sockets and install the kit directly on to the motherboard.
Any suggestions for upgrades/fixes (cap kits, etc) that might be a good idea? I've already got a flashfloppy gotek and that's working great.
I've included a picture of the motherboard.

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Looks like the ROMs are in sockets and they look to be correctly placed to fit the dual-TOS board.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Yes, the kit should fit AFAIK, but before going ahead and desoldering any sockets, I'd suggest you try fitting the DualTOS adapter first, I have a machine or two where the adapter is in the sockets and it works just fine.

Hmm, just curious - why not go for a combo of TOS v1.4 and TOS v2.06 instead?
That way, you get the compatibility of TOS v1.4 and its improved mass storage
handling as well as a really nice, newer desktop and features with TOS v2.06?
Just a thought... :)

I believe that the TOS 2.x require a supplemental address decoder to work an STF.Darklord wrote: 29 Oct 2022 18:27 Hmm, just curious - why not go for a combo of TOS v1.4 and TOS v2.06 instead?

Ah, my bad - did not know that. The Dual TOS boards I'm familiar withsporniket wrote: 29 Oct 2022 18:37 I believe that the TOS 2.x require a supplemental address decoder to work an STF.
weren't like that, to the best of my memory (I only played around with
/installed a couple of older ones - not Exxos' product).
Thanks.

Yes TOS206 needs a decoder board of some type. There's kits in my store for it and a new board coming very soon in fact.
The TOS102 & 104 ROMs are not going to be done again when stock runs out. They are just getting too expensive and most go for 104 & 206 these days.
