Selling some upcycled Falcon NVRAMs

Post by Steve »

Hey there,

I dremeled and fitted CR1220 battery holders to these original units. Sealed the components with clear epoxy.

I have more than I need so I've for a few for sale. Let me know if you want one, UK only sorry (there are cheap EU alternatives if you're on the continent)

£15/ea comes with free Renata (top quality!) Battery
£2 postage

I'm highly tempted by one as well...just not sure I'm brave enough to try removing the original part (yet)...

Do you live anywhere near the Midlands?

I'm contemplating snipping my old one off and flywiring this one on as a short term fix until I pluck up the courage to desolder the original.

BW I'm happy to fit a socket for you... I know I stopped 'doing services' but I worry about your Falcon :) Same @JezC ... If you live near the Midlands just come to my house and I'll do it for free. Or just send me your motherboards (not case etc, just motherboard. Maybe secured in its metal shielding for protection) This offer just for BW and Jez atm. Send/bring a socket if possible I don't have spares.

Thanks Steve,

My Falcon's got to get through DFB1 development before I start giving it some proper TLC though, so I don't think I'll be able to take you up on your offer in the short term. :)

Ok please wait then till you do anything with the nvram if possible... the amount of times I've seen Falcons get bricked with nvram removals. It's not easy without the correct tools, can easily break the traces.

OK, fair enough. I was just going to cut the pins of the chip and leave them in place for now!
