Stacy repair

Post by Marsupilami »

Hi,
i have a working Stacy1 which needs some care :
- led screen sheet replacement
- Rear ASCI, floppy, screen (...) connectors replacement
- 4M RAM upgrade
I think i will also add an SCSI2SD to replace the existing drive and maybe a Goex drive too.

My questions :
- There is a lot of ASCI connectors on exxos store, wich one should i use ?
- I'd like to upgrade it to 4Mb. It is possible with a stfm kit (once it will be back in stock) ?

Thanks.

Cannot really say, there are that many different types of them. I'm trying to find a thread I wrote on this.. You can only really go one which physically looks the closest. Unless yours has a part number on top of it.

I assume you can use the MMU "plug in" variant. But I am not aware of and of anyone ever fitting it to a STACEY.

Replace the 8x 256kx4 chips with 1MBx4 chips and add the MAD9 line ...

I know no one likes dealing with Best Electronics, especially from overseas, but
Brad does offer a trade in program for certain STacy memory boards. I had a 2
meg board and he allowed me to trade it in for a 4 meg version. I don't think
he does the 1 meg version, but it wouldn't hurt to ask...

Just a thought.

BTW, where was that STacy stored to get that much corrosion? Ugh. :)

Ordering from Brad is not the easiest thing in the world indeed.

I don't know. I got it like that. I guess it was laying on the floor in a garage and the plug side down...

Well, i don't have the skills for surface mount chips...But I might ask you to do it one day, after the great repair you did on my TT and very recently on
my Falcon RTC...Would you do that for me Frank ? :)
