Falcon DSP and SDMA not working

Post by mrbombermillzy »

Continued from a topic that started off as something different...https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =50&t=4788

and continued here... Basically a Falcon with a non working DSP/SDMA(!)

OK BadWolf, thanks for the guide.

First off, the DSP is NOS from a reliable source fitted recently. You can see the cut trace on the lower right which has been restored (pin 74):

I've included all the other 'funky' board mods below, along with a general overview of the board in 2 halves:

I have much larger images of all these if necessary... just ask.

Unfortunately, I have a small area in the house setup exclusively for coding. Any hardware dabbling is beyond possible so any board work necessary that is gleaned from this post will most likely be given to @Steve to carry out (if that's fine with him).

Yeah looks like it used to have a bus-speeder installed in the past by the looks of the lifted ACIA pins. Send it to me sometime and I'll restore it. Maybe put an Exxos clock patch in there too.

Cheers Steve,

If I'm going to get it fixed, you may as well do everything it needs.

I tried to get as much done as I can. However, the guy doing the work had no idea about the machine (he did a clean job though), so I basically had to explain the mods step by step, get it returned and test it out...that was when the PSU gave up. And so here we are.
