The reasons I am here are as follows:
1. Amiga Owner (since the '80s)
2. Fan of Stephen Leary / TerribleFire
3. REALLY ENJOYED his Amiga vs Atari Duelling Banjos youtube video
4. And all the others.
5. I just bought (this evening) An Atari 520 STfm.
6. I wish to bring TerribleFire to it.
7. I wish to bring TerribleFire to my Amiga 1200 too.
8. As a long time Owner and user of Amigas, I realise we have much to be greatful to Jack Tramiel and Atari, from the very beginnings to present day.
9. Very briefly used one (in my teens) in a music club.
A. So it's all Stephen Leary's / TerribleFire's fault I am here, Thankyou very much Stephen Leary!
p.s.
I'm a total noob when it comes to Atari Stuff, I plan to use it for music/MIDI,
and my Amiga has internet access (for the essential ability to write Atari / PC format 720KB disks)
- and I already have one
- The Atari version of KK/Altair's Dread I downloaded the other day.
p.p.s.
as Atari built great foundations for Amiga...
I feel it only appropriate that I will also be using the Atari 520STfm as a stand for my Amiga
- and it will help the Amiga A1200's pcmcia network card clear the Amiga's external floppy drives.
I very very nearly bought a 520STfm when I was younger, but I was given an Amiga 500 - which I loved.
Beyond that, I'm a bit of an oddball, and I think i'd like a Game Gear and know I want an Atari Lynx.

I think it was Newton who said "If I have seen further it's because my Amiga is sitting on the shoulders of an Atari-ST" .

Re: Hi From Gloucestershire, UK
Good news:
Today it was delivered!
Modulator works
My LG M2232D-PZ TV is compatible (as expected, despite being out of specification)
Also Good news:
It boots to TOS, it appears to load disks,
Maybe not so good:
I think either there is a board fault or the mouse has a failed rotary encoder for up/down.
Test drive "loads" but displays bombs on screen, I guess this means it has bombed out.
Compared to the Amiga 500, the case seems rather sturdy.
Time to get the screwdriver out and poke things!
EDIT:
Mobo says co7-859-001
CPU is Surface mounted
Think i've found 1/5 MB ram under the psu?
Only two sockets for TOs
inside is actually rather tidy! - nothing looks dodgy!
Floppy is an SMD-480L (original?)
I'm amazed to see the keyboard is an actual PCB.
EDIT2:
having reseated a chip on the back of the keyboard, the mouse now goes up, but not down - I'm guessing this is a keyboard issue!

Re: Hi From Gloucestershire, UK
The up/down mouse problem could be a bad solder joint on the 9 pin connector, so I'd suggest a keyboard clean/dismantle and look at the 2x 9 pin connectors under a microscope or magnifying glass.
Also worth doing a continuity test on the mouse cable as they do go too.
In the meantime you can use alt+arrow keys and ins/del for left and right mouse buttons. Adding shift in with the alt+arrow keys slows down the movement for more controlled movement.
