A few weeks ago @alenppc got a report of a 1D1 A1200 that wouldnt work with the TF1230. It was also an NTSC board so i was curious and bought the board from the person with the issue. I will not say who this was.
Anyways i got the board this morning and I found that many of the data bus traces between the edge connector and the CPU were physically cut.
Its the sort of thing you will not see unless you have a microscope. It looks like it was done by someone who recapped the board judging by similar gouges near the caps.
The A1200 will work fine without a card in but simply will not work with one in.

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

This is why I never try recapping my own boards. :D

Looks like a sticker or something was stuck on the board from the mask in the background and the track may have come away when it was removed.

Totally agree there. YouTube has its uses, but its also extremely damaging. One person does something, badly, 5000 people copy it, do their take on it all, re-upload, then it becomes fact, then try and tell people anything different and its "your wrong! Every site on the internet says this or that is right, your talking rubbish" rinse and repeat.Danoo wrote: 09 Oct 2021 23:35.

It's one of the founding missions of this forum, to have people like myself and @terriblefire run the forum and have proper information. If people disagree, they can click the X and move on, I don't really care.
Let's pick on Linus tech tips for example. If he pushes ram into a motherboard while flexing it on the top of the box just one more time :pullhair: :headbang: :chairsmack: :cussing:

Yeah I've winced at videos of people snipping off old caps with side cutters.
It's asking for trouble, and seems commonplace. It's another reason I never touch 'recrapped' boards unless I am salvaging them for spare parts.

To be fair, A1200 and A600 PCBs are quite fragile.
So you need some experience to handle them properly.

Nicely worked out =D I have seen a couple of 1200's with corrosion around there (strangely) - not sure how it gets there...
