TF1230 CF Card Compatibilty

Post by terriblefire »

I've had a report that the TF1230 is still picky with CF cards but works fine with SD2IDE type converters. I just want to get reports of other peoples experience.

I've tried around 10 different CF brands including cheap Chinese jobs and full on Kingstons. All work fine for me with the onboard (A1200 Motherboard) IDE. If we find issues with the TF onboard IDE then it might be the TF or the ehide.device that has the issue.

So far i've limited testing to OS3.1 + Rev2 and 1D4 Mobos.

Sandisk 16Gb.. With Linux on it.. Boots fine.
Kingston 4Gb. With OS3.1... boots fine. Plays games and demos.
Cheap Nobrand 4Gb... boots fine.
Danelec 2Gb with OS3.1... boots fine. Plays games and demos.

Sandisk- Extreme 8gb............ works fine
Sandisk- Ultra 8gb.............works fine
Transcend 133x 8gb................works fine
Cheap blue/White China one 8g..............works fine
Kingston 8gb ....................works fine

Just to add if you are using the China cheapo one like me be aware I have had although quite rare instances where the card is faulty, it seems like it wants to boot then stalls, fooled me a couple of times, so always make sure you have a master CF card for testing :)

These 3 worked fine (Boot/ Games / Demo) on both A1200 IDE and TF1230 IDE
