TF1230 Licensing and Distribution

Post by terriblefire »

I've had a think about the TF1230 licensing. I'm going with a Creative Commons, Attribution, No Derivatives + Anti-AmigaKit license. E.g. CC BY-ND 4.0 + No AmigaKit

Basically given how they have behaved in the community in the last few years I will not allow my work to be sold by AmigaKit. Everyone else is welcome to sell it. I will encourage people to sell it as cheap as possible and will not ask for any contributions/donations. I would rather the price was lower than to take a cut.

I will fix any FW bugs that are fixable as they come up and as my time allows.

EDIT: Also i am not a manufacturer/seller of TF1230s. I did not even build my own. So anyone who wants to have a tantrum about me fixing something knows where the door is.

This pleases me endlessly.
Amigakit have displayed too much anti competitive behaviour in recent years.

Is this allowed? https://www.pcbway.com/project/sharepro ... _1230.html

DJBase gets credits when someone else orders PCBs through this page.

If the licence information displayed under the "embed order link" is the licence of this "shared project".

And the original github project link is given on section "code", "Circuit diagrams and Schematics" and "CAD-Custom parts and enclosures".

If this "DJBase" is not a proxy to AmigaKit, to me it seems inside the bounds of the licence, that does not include a "Non Commercial" clause that would prevent this type of sharing.

He, maybe each member of the forum could do the same as well, to "dilute" such gain :D

(edit : typo)

I honestly dont care how its sold so long as its not on AmigaKit's page and the copyright notice isnt removed. The copyright notice is in tact there AFAICT. Seriously wouldnt give a hoot if Jens sold it on his site and never sent me a penny.

EDIT: My goal is with this card was to make 030 + 64Mb the default for every A1200 out there. To drag prices to the floor... to make other designers have to come up with something other than the basics if they want to sell for £250.
