Hi from the NW Highlands, Scotland.

Hi All

Willie here, did a little basic programming in school, 1980, but due to a lack of funds and then secure housing didn't become a computer owner until the end of 1992. By which time I'd started working in a much better job and was able to move out of my caravan and into a small house I'd managed to buy.

First thing I did on getting the keys was to get connected to the telephone, next thing I did was head off to the big smoke to buy an Atari ST and a 240 modem. I came home with a flashy new Falcon-030 plus 240 b box and shortly after upgraded to a 14,400k modem.

There's been a lot of water under the bridge since then. A few months back I started clearing out my spare room and in among the carcasses of an assortment of redundant machines, but lovingly boxed separately, was my old girl. A couple of days back I hooked her up, switched her on and booted her up. Not perfect but not bad for having sat abandoned since 2021, when life began to really get in my way.

My thinking now is to have the machine refurbed, new and bigger HD? Memory expanded to 14mb and have a breakout drive fitted, flash card?, to enable data sharing with the rest of the planet. Either that or hook her up to/build, a home network.

I'll mainly be reading but I'm sure I'll have a few questions along the way. Until then!
