Booting to TOS 1.0 from floppy disk.

Hi. I've been trying to do this with Seltos and Credisk to no avail.

Got a working copy of MIDI Draw which freezes on load up.

I've read that installing TOS 1.0 into RAM might fix the problem but I'm way out of my depth.

Got the disk image but still failed to acheive my goal.

I have the same problem. Seltos never worked for me. Tried loads with it, all sorts of images, gave up in the end. Problem is TOS needs a lot of hacks to work from RAM. When the hacks don't work, neither does TOS. There is only EMUTOS which will behave.

Maybe just register to the EMUTOS mailing list and tell them and they may look into it...

Already registered. I'll test it properly with no NVDI now.

Yeah crashes with basic EMUTOS.

Wasn't the very first version of TOS booted from floppy into RAM anyway (on the very early 520 STM models)?

If so, then have you got a copy of that or is a copy of the TOS 1.00 ROMs that you are trying to load into RAM?

IIRC the EmuTOS team are working towards a v1.1 release candidate, so probably best not wait too long or it's likely to be nearer the end of the year before the next release candidate!

If I can (and no-one else has supplied one sooner), I'll have a go at locating the original TOS disc image - is that program only known to be working with the original TOS (1.00) & no later vresions? I'm sure I once had a disc with TOS 1.04 that would load from floppy/hard drive into RAM...probably back in the late 80s/early 90s.

The problem you have here is that this site has ROM image files, not disk image files. TOS 1.0 from here works just fine with Hatari as a ROM, but it won't boot as a floppy disk.

Also, and I am not 100% certain on this, for TOS 1.0 to boot from floppy, you'd need the original ROM image that allows you to boot TOS from floppy. Not tried SELTOS though.

I only use emulators for DOS gaming.

I will never emulate when it comes to Atari.
