That is a very interesting article.

While I have heard the horror stories, I've personally only had the best of experiences dealing with Brad and Best Electronics.

I had not seen that.

I remember years ago when myself and Alison was looking for a USA Distributor for PeST.. he said he would only do that if he could buy them for £2 each.. We could not even by the PIC chip for that! Still annoys me even to this day. He could have supported people and saved a lot of people a lot of postage money across the pond.

Not only that, he gets away with charging high prices because people really have no choice. Just think of the amount of Falcon chips he has.. There is no way he will sell them all in his lifetime.. If he sold them for something half sane price, it would mean the Falcon remake boards could actually be done..A few of us tried to do a bulk buy a couple years ago.. Total farce that all was. We was into 5 figures and he turned it down.. Bit more to it than that, but thats the jist of it all.

If he would sell me things like cartridge connectors at a reasonable price he would be supporting my remake boards as well. In one respect it is good he is selling this stuff, to support the community (for high prices of course) , on the other hand he is single-handedly destroying it as well. "top Atari supporter" my arse.
When he retires, he plans to pass whatever remains of his stock on to his children. He's not sure what they'll do with it.
Yeah "landfill" . Can't even panic buy without running the risk of being blacklisted. He really does not like people reselling his stuff. He has to have all the huge profits to himself or no deal.

Then there are sellers like me, scouring the ends of the earth every week trying to find sources of parts, and selling for very little profit!

That was the same deal I was talking about. I do not believe Wizztronics Technically had any stock. He is friends with Brad, and I suspect Brad tried to shift a lot of stock via them.

Like I said Brad must realise he's not going to sell the entire stock like ever and was looking for ways to mass shift stock "elsewhere". Unfortunately they are still basically wanting full asking price anyway. So the whole thing was just pointless right from the start. I honestly believe unless they can get full asking price for stuff, they will all end up in landfill ... The "$5 discount" on $45 chips and needing to buy thousands of each one.. Even at $1 per chip, it would take considerable capital to even make a dent in the stock they have. Thats where things are at.

It really pi**es me off TBH. Its the attitude of "if I cannot make massive profits on them then nobody can". Again I honestly just see them ending up in landfill. Unless someone has a few million lay around to offer Brad for his stock that is..
