Well, well! Debian Linux boots!

Post by stephen_usher »

I happen to have the Debian m68k install media on my UltraSATAN and just for giggles thought I'd start the boot loader and see how far it got before it crashed and burned.

Well, other than saying that the UltraSATAN is an unsupported device on the ACSI bus it just well went and booted didn't it?!

So, if you have a supported drive on the ACSI bus it looks like you can run a 15 year old Linux system on your ST+TF536.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

It's just an STFM with a ROM decoder (to allow EmuTOS) and the TF536.

Linux should handle/boots fine from any ACSI device. A ACSI device is a ACSI device. When there is a problem its the hdd driver I think ...

Very cool! I love anything Linux/Unix related on our ST's, got to try this myself sometime.
