It has been brought to my attention that King's Quest IV game presents sound issues when running on TF330 and TF536, and this affects both WHDLoad and floppy versions. I did some experimenting and found out that for some reason this game places its sound samples in Z3 fast ram instead of Chip ram and this causes the issue.
This is a very strange bug as the game doesn't try to place sound samples in Z2 ram, only Z3. My guess would be that back in the day when this game was written, Z3 ram still wasn't in use, so they had no way of finding out about this bug.
This can be fixed by adding the EXPCHIP tooltype to the WHDLoad icon. This will force the game to run entirely out of chip ram and the sound will be fine. An unfortunate drawback is that the game will be considerably slower (especially on the 536) and you also need to have 2MB chip ram in your machine for the entire game to fit, but it is a workaround.

Hi Alen I might try EXPCHIP on other titles which suffer down Deluxe Galaga, Seni Soccer and Turrican 2 come to mind

Deluxe Galaga should work just fine? It's very system friendly and it doesn't need WHDLoad. I think there's something else going there if you have a problem with that game. The Turrican problem was solved with the latest firmware update, it had to do with 68000 timings.Paradroid901 wrote: Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:32 pm Hi Alen I might try EXPCHIP on other titles which suffer down Deluxe Galaga, Seni Soccer and Turrican 2 come to mind
