I need some help ...
1040ST Mainboard C103175 Rev.1 / Lightning ST - EmuTOS 1.0.1 / TF536
(Mainboard Mod Data/Address Pullups 4,7K)
When I power up the computer all is dead. I must press the reset button and it work but when the first autofolder program was started EmuTOS cash. I must boot without any programs to the desktop and start manually a program. Then I can do a reset and all works fine. Proceed without this EmuTOS will cash every time when I power up and do a reset.
The same setup with at a PuPla/2 + Panther/2 (MACH32+NE2000) works with the problems previously described but when I try to open up a floppy the whole computer freezes without any bombs and I must do a reset. ACSI with hostadapter and scsi drives works fine without problems.
With a 68000 CPU or a PAK68/2 instead of the TF536 all works fine without any problems
... any Ideas and/or solutions ?

For starters sounds like you need to replace the caps in the reset circuit.. But with so much hardware and cables I'm really not surprised of issues. You need to do all the mandatory fixes listed for that machine for starters.. But this is all why we destined a new motherboard as it was easier to fix all problems with a solid motherboard .

I think the caps are fine. The same problems have I with the TF536 and a Mega ST4 Mainboard. May be I change the 22uF cap to a 47uF one ...exxos wrote: 26 Dec 2020 00:43 For starters sounds like you need to replace the caps in the reset circuit..
I have also the same setup with a PAK68/3-030 (50Mhz) and a FRAK/2 and the machine works great without any problems.exxos wrote: 26 Dec 2020 00:43 But with so much hardware and cables I'm really not surprised of issues.
I do not think that help me. ACSI transfer is fine.exxos wrote: 26 Dec 2020 00:43 You need to do all the mandatory fixes listed for that machine for starters.. But this is all why we destined a new motherboard as it was easier to fix all problems with a solid motherboard .

There are a lot of fixes..not just DMA ones... But also you need to verify TF536 works on a stock machine with emutos.

This is the stock machine. I need the lightning to address the 256kB EmuTOS. I think the Lightning is not the problem.frank.lukas wrote: 25 Dec 2020 18:00 1040ST Mainboard C103175 Rev.1 / Lightning ST - EmuTOS 1.0.1 / TF536

The machine work absolutely fine with a 68000 CPU or a PAK68/2 Speeder card. So I think the problem is the TF536. The whole Bus timing from the TF536 can be the problem here. May be there must be do more work into the TF Atari Firmware. Specifically relating by add the PuPla/2 + Panther/2 aan the freezing when I access the Floppy Drive.
The freezing is the biggest problem so far ...

I must admit that the latest version of the TF536 firmware does seem to be less tolerant and has more issues with the other hardware than the version mine came with originally. It’s also significantly slower, GB6 showing a CPU speed increase of ~600% rather than the original ~800%.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I think I have the lastest Firmware with IDE disable so I can use the IDE port on the Lightning ST (tf536r2_main_top_ATARI-64MB-NOIDE_FULL_PHASE_7) ...

Small step ahead ...
I change C2 and C7 from 22uF to 47uF at the reset circuit. At Power up the Computer with Lightning and TF536 boots up at the first time. So I have not to press the reset button anymore.

I can handle the freezing when I address the floppy by use it not anymore and use alternatively USB Sticks over the Lightning ST.
Annoying is that autofolder programs cash EmuTOS. I must boot clean with nothing into the desktop and start from there a program. Then I can boot normal the machine.
