kodak80 H5 A3 builds

Post by kodak80 »

Okay, starting my build by updating one of my :logo: H4 boards to add a PLCC52 socket, removed the 68901 DIL IC and testing the 68901FN PLCC chips I ordered.

All tested and working fine so decided to leave one in the newly installed socket. :D

BOM components all ordered and arrived. Just waiting on the post for the H5 boards.

Whilst others have began the race to build the B1 boards, I have 6 of the H5 A3 boards so I have started building the first one to get this up and working.

First photo of IC22 Reset IC in situ before soldering:

PLC52 SMT socket soldered into place:

IC6 removed, tracks cut and re-seated using my heat gun. Fix applied:

Fix 1 applied underneath board:

@kodak80 - that is the correct orientation.

Thanks for confirming @Icky. I could not find anyone photos on H5 boards already built by the group so far but checked my H4 and the tracks helped even though the IC is now rotated compared to the H4.

So, I may have filed too far on the "SIDE0 FLOPPY SHORT FIX" and I have cut the next track above and may have cut the other 2 tracks above that. Can anyone confirm what the other 2 tracks connect on the board so I can test continuity of these other 2 tracks?

I was testing continuity from GND to the floppy pin 32 and filed straight up. It was only when I filed to the left that the continuity stopped but by that time, I had cut the same track as exxos. I suspect I may have also cut the other 2 tracks above. :(

Thank you. Will be good to see how much I broke...and needs fixing.

I am pleased to advise, I only seem to have cut the 2nd track. Tracks 3 and 4 pass continuity test. Phew. Only 1 long bodge wire to add and the original fix wire on this board.

Ya know Icky, you all most fooled me! You changed the orientation of the reset chip 90 degree's from the H4 so when @PhilC soldered his on he'd get it right the first time. I was going to place it the same orientation as the H4 but luckily I checked first. :foldarms:
