Re: Icky's H5 Phoenix Platform Build
I can confirm that the the hole modifications on the board for the case lugs that are on some cases are in the right place. Some pictures on the H4 SMT thread which was the basis for the H5.

The hole in the bottom right and the one near the SIMM socket are in alignment.

Re: Icky's H5 Phoenix Platform Build
More progress but still need to complete the patches. I have purposely started placing some components so I can run the patch wires next (tacking down with hot snot) or under them so this is a methodical build.
Pretty much I am working from left to right as I am waiting on a few more SMT components on the right hand side. Also to cut build time down the Phoenix Shifter is being used on this H5.
A couple of observations so far:

A couple of observations so far:
- The gold plating on the pcb pads actually is nicer than the previous boards. The solder flows nicely and its a lot easier to solder.
- I have built an ALPHA and an H4. Nothing will match the heady days of the group building the ALPHA and the H4 took time to build but the H5 having most of the SMT in place has really changed the build and takes a lot of the tedious through hole wire snipping out of the game.
- In the background the desolder gun as been my best friend removing components from a defunct board.

Watching to see how it's done for when I start my H5 build.
BTW, since you're reminiscing, I still have the photo of the row of bombs from the Alpha, dated September 18th 2018 :D
