HDDriver 10.18 HDDRUTIL.APP

Post by GadgetUK164 »

Does anyone have a backup of this file? I have a licensed install of HDDriver here but not the util. This is a legal legit request, as it wont work without the same version licensed .sys file (which I have and boot from).

EDIT: Changed title to reflect the correct version numer (.18)

If you contact Wolfgang on the HDDriver site with your license number I am sure he will be able to send you the link to the download.

I was waiting for the license police lol! It's installed, I have a licensed hddriver.sys which is boots from. The original owner of this machine no longer has the details or the files. Since no one can do anything with HDDRUTIL.APP on its own (you need the .SYS) I see no problem asking for this here. But I am sure the original author will just want another 50 euros...

Maybe I'm being the license police here, but I think the software is licensed to the person and not the machine. If you contact Uwe on his website with the name of the person you bought it from, he will probably change the license details to yourself? Then you can download it directly from his website properly. (if the original owner has no details, and his name is not on Uwes registered list, then it is possible that the previous owner obtained it falsely) It might get Exxos into trouble if we start sharing current and copyrighted software on his forum.

It's OK, forget it. I will just go with PP's driver. I am not contacting that guy - I refuse to deal with him.

Why whats wrong? I've never heard anything bad. Always had good dealings with him. It's pretty much the only 'required' software that needs purchasing for us Atarians, in my opinion it's excellent software and worth it. I bought both his & pperas drivers, but I use Hd Driver because the interface actually makes sense and is written for humans.

@Steve Uwe is somewhat difficult to deal with. I've had conversations with him and he just seems to have no patience or really a willingness to help. I don't really like contacting him as normally I just wish I hadn't of bothered. Lots of people have had similar problems with him. I'm not trying to discredit him or his work either. PP isn't exactly easy to deal with either. Really wish someone would just do a new open source driver or something :roll:

In my lengthy experience in the field, I've found that rarely do refined social skills and a deep understanding of SCSI arise in the same person. But we are definitely glad to have those guys when we need them.

Yeah, computer nerds, big egos and poor interpersonal skills do seem to go together, and are probably all linked.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I resolved it! Someone was able to provide me with the file I required! I just found he was awkward last time I talked to him. I also remember some of the hardware guys asking him for a deal on licenses (to sell with hardware) but he just completely refused to budge on price.
