Anyone who's anyone in the underground 8-bit chiptune scene knows the talent and influence of 8 Bit Weapon, the musical duo otherwise known as Seth and Michelle. Inspired by classic video game soundtracks and electronic music from the 70s and 80s, 8 Bit Weapon's music is completely unique combining nostalgic electronic sounds with contemporary dance grooves.

With their name producing nearly 44,000 Google search results, this group has broken through the barriers of a stigmatized geek-niche into mainstream electronica. In fact, they've drawn so much attention and respect to this art form, they've enjoyed the privilege of working directly with the likes of Kraftwerk and Information Society.

8 Bit Weapon has performed 4 tours across the USA and Europe since they started and are currently planning their 5th. Whether playing live or in the studio, they draw from an arsenal of 8 bit weapons including a Commodore 64 and 128, Apple II E&C, Amiga 1200, Atari 1040ST, Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo N.E.S., Intellivision synthesizer, Speak 'n Spell, Speak 'n Music, some hybrid lo-fi electro-acoustic drums, and an assortment of other vintage and toy synthesizers. Of course, no 8-bit band would be complete without a hacked Atari 2600 game console!

On their 2009 "Electric High" album, 8 Bit Weapon takes an Atari 2600 and pushes its sound chip to its limits in the tune "Chiptune Attack 2600 AD". The song itself is almost entirely done with the Slocum Synthcart for Atari 2600 with a punchy, turbulent techno beat and numerous FX peppering the melody.

Aside from the past several albums they've released, 8 Bit Weapon's recent foray into creating the Sony sample loop library, "8 Bit Weapon: A Chiptune Odyssey", includes an entire section full of Atari 2600 sound loops, drum tracks, and fx. They created this disc in response to the popularization of 8-bit music and for chiptunists who lacked the vintage hardware and wished to use software samplers instead. But that's just a beginning of their entrepreneurial drive...

8 Bit Weapon has got to be the most professional, innovative, and popular 8-bit bands of all time. In addition to working with Kraftwerk, they've also completed music projects for Disney, Electronic Arts, Nokia, Microsoft and many others. They've even got a creative technical side too! In 2009, Seth and Michelle teamed up with programmer, MJ Mahon, to develop a one of a kind 8-voice wavetable synthesizer for the Apple II. Seth's hardware know-how was also featured at the 9th Annual Gaming Expo in San Fransisco where he's seen demonstrating his hot rodded C64's and Ataris.

Michelle, on the other hand, has her plate full as has she performs double duty promoting her own 8-bit musical career as ComputerHer. And if that wasn't enough - they've even got their own iPhone apps you can download on iTunes to stay up to date on their latest news, music, videos, and more! For an 8-bit band, this dynamic duo's 128-bit business sense is one of a kind.
