Hi
I just received my replacement Falcon Motherboard and have put in a new 4700uF cap and timing fix (courtesy of EXXOS’s store) but have an issue with the NVRAM
The old chip was gone and upon cleaning out the solder holes I’ve found there seems to be something jammed in pins 12 and 24. I cannot for the life of me shift whatever it is.
I’ve even tried turning my desolder station up to 440C and heating up a piece of wire to melt the solder and push whatever if is out but it wont budge.
Any ideas?

You will probably have to reroute the two pins, Falcon MB's are the worst. If that's the MB that was on Ebay for around 500, I passed on it for that very reason. Plus 500 for an unknown. I have owned three Falcon's and they are picky on the thru hole parts.
3)1040 stf/m, 2)Mega 4 ST, 1)STE, 1)Mega STE, 1)STacy, 2)Falcon 030

Drill it to well under the size of the through hole initially (to avoid slip damage) and then increase the bit size towards the final size of the required through hole.

EDIT: Wear eye protection, those micro bits are nasty!

Yep it was that board. 400euro.
I took the risk because they are so hard to find anyway and my old board failed beyond my ability to repair.
It looks like the legs of the old chip are jammed in the holes. I will look at drilling them out or patching them tomorrow.

I did a video on removing the nvram. You need to put solder onto it and flux and heat it for maybe even 30 seconds before sucking the solder up because your hearing large copper areas as well .

That makes sense . So I got there by putting lots of heat on for awhile and then pushing the pin through. Worked like a treat. You need to put solder onto it and flux and heat it for maybe even 30 seconds before sucking the solder up because your hearing large copper areas as well .
Congratulatory power on however has to wait as I noticed Q7 is missing. Ordered a replacement so just have to wait.
