Hi everyone,
first of all: the teenage me never imagined a place (real or virtual) where Atari and Amiga users would coexist peacefully, but here we are - and I like it! :D
Now speaking about myself: My username is pronounced "Rubicon" in case you wondered but that writing stuck with me on different occasions throughout the last 20 years. I'm from the Eastern part of Germany and 1990 at the very first chance my dad bought me an A500 with a monitor. I later saved my pocket money for a 512k RAM expansion card and got a second hand df1: drive later on. I was made to give away (for nothing!) my whole setup by my mom around 1999/2000 and regretted me not standing up ever since. I always stuck with the memories and started playing around with emulators for while until last year I had fever for the first time since my teenage years and in between falling asleep I watched some Amiga related videos on YouTube and ended up bidding on an A500 at the bay but forgot about it again. 3 weeks later the machine arrived and I was infected, in love and excited from the (re)start on.
Meanwhile I own the A500, A600, CD32 and am in the middle of restoring an A2000 to have all the machines I always wanted but never had the money for. :)
I'm also active on a1k, but thought of expanding my "sources of knowledge" internationally. Thanks to the Terrible Fire project I "landed" here.
I'm open to critisism, so if you think I'm doing wrong tell me and I'll listen and adapt.
All the best and stay safe,
rooBcon

Indeed. Nobody here cares about "which machine is better" wars from 30+ year ago. All machine have good and bad points, only the user can decide which is the best machine for them. We are all retro people and enjoy all machines here.rooBcon wrote: 16 Jun 2020 11:21

Welcome! We all got older and wiser I guess. I always liked the industrial design of the Ataris, but never had one after the 400 - the horrible keyboard scarred me a little perhaps.

Welcome, as a fellow Amiga user from the 1990's I recommend you also buy an ST of some sort - just so you can argue with yourself

Ha! I recently was on the verge on successfully bidding on a Falcon040 but then got outbid by just a couple hundred Euros just 5 minutes before end time :DLezRed wrote: 16 Jun 2020 15:21 Welcome, as a fellow Amiga user from the 1990's I recommend you also buy an ST of some sort - just so you can argue with yourself
