Loads of people are constantly messing this up  So I am making changes.
Basically people don't read the OPTIONAL text fields, fill out their address line by line, then put stupid stuff as the region box as it requires a input.
Its creating a lot of work and confusion for us as we have to work out if half what people are putting is actually part of the address or not  The checks were there to remind people they missed a field, because some people manage not put house numbers or something in.. So the package would never get there. Though in doing that, its causing us said problems.
The address is supposed to look like this...
But people are doing this kind of thing all the time...
I guess the thing only makes sense to me, so I am removing the check for the Region box making it optional, and renaming the other boxes to this..
So with more checks removed, if people don't put their full address in, we are not policing it anymore, as we don't know if the addresses are correct or not, If you don't know where you live, then we sure don't! So if people mess it up then its your own fault sorry! :)
Also any blank lines will be automatically removed from the address. So people who were doing it correctly, can fill it out as before, or just fill it in in ignorance like many others do :)

Re: Address field changes
Great :) Sweden has no concept of "State / Province / Region" for example. We just have one address line, postal code and city.

Re: Address field changes
Ok, most of the sites change the makeup of the form when selecting the country.
But the above would probably be a pain to manage.
The Netherlands has Provinces but we do not use it in our postal addresses.
One other thing, our postal address also includes the city, for example:
Mickey Mouse
GoofyStreet 10
7942GF GoofyCity
Is that covered in your solution?

Re: Address field changes
Postal code still has its own field and in most cases goes near the bottom of the address. The only universal solution would just to have a single text box and just let people use that instead.Maximilian wrote: 10 Jun 2020 23:55 Mickey Mouse

Yes, it seems this is a difficult issue to get right.
Forgot about "The Netherlands" on the bottom just under the postal code and the city…
Mickey Mouse
GoofyStreet 10
7942GF GoofyCity
The Netherlands

Re: Address field changes
I've had some right weird info appear on address from people not filling in forms properly, I think the problem is most people don't know where they live and it dont match Royal Mails records, especially regions where the borders where changed in 1952 and yet people still call it that 70 years later...
When I run into a site that asks for region and it wont let you carry on without it I just put WEST MIDLANDS so you end up with WEST MIDLANDS, WEST MIDLANDS sometimes.
I think you be better off dumping the region bit if its going to cause trouble or have a drop down menu with selections, but they people will kick off there not on the list or something and you end up mailing back and forth getting all political for £1.50
Could try one of those automated address finders but there not exactly 100% accurate anyhow, I think Royal Mail only use the house number and post code anyhow.
I might send myself a card with just number and code on see if it gets here, I noticed when people put them tiny return to sender stickers on its usually just that anyhow.
