Dye or paint floppy drive front panel?

Hi all,

after having recently broken an old Mitsumi drive on disassembly (ripped the connector cable to the floppy head) I ordered a newer HD version replacement one. That works (after modification), but of course the front panel colors don't match the ATARI case colour.

Has anyone here tried to dye or paint the front panel of a floppy drive and can share his experiences?
