evening .
i have a smd 380 that spins and not much else.
ive have opened it up and removed the what looked like toast crumbs and fluff
heads cleaned with ipa wipes.
is there anything more i can do to hopefully repair.
there is a 56uf cap across power ,are there any others worth changing while in bits.

There's also a 10uF under the board that contains the motor - I've the same drive which needs repair, as it occasionally slows down and returns read errors (and those two condensators are the ones, that could be easily replaced - the others are SMDs).philbo34 wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 11:57 pm evening .

Check that the eject mechanism is working correctly, by this I mean is the disk sitting correctly in the drive. I've had her the disk has been ever so slightly out of position and doesnt make the switches at the front of the drive that detect read only and disk present, also these switches do wear and do develop dry joints on the pcb.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
