ST PSU NEW BATCH IN THE MAKING

Post by exxos »

I'm going to start soldering the regulators on these today and tomorrow. If I have sometime next week. Soldering the capacitors and transformers.

These are very time-consuming to do, but I am still working on these when I can. I know there are people who are wanting the Falcon version.. The problem is to crimps of become really expensive, almost a pound each! When I do a new Falcon batch likely get the cables made up as the quotations I got do not work out much different between it and the cables made or making the cables myself and buying the crimps myself.

Of course if people were desperate enough, they could buy the ST one and fit the original Falcon PSU connector on it, if they extended it.

Capacitors are all now soldered on :)

Next up will be to power them up off my bench PSU and make sure they are working under load before I solder the transformers on:)

8 made in total. I could not finish the last one as rapid electronics was out of stock on the Transformers :(

I am starting towards building up another batch, but this will likely be some months away now as I have a lot of work to do on other projects as well.

I have decided to order the Falcon power connectors from a company in the UK. These will be assembled to my specification ready to solder into power supply circuit boards. These will be here in a few weeks time, meanwhile I will try and start assembly of some more PCBs.

This will take a great deal of time and I am extremely busy at the moment and don't have much time for Atari work :( I will of course post progress here when it happens.

Falcon power supply connectors finally arrived :)

This will save me a enormous amount of work even though having these cabled manufacturers was rather expensive. Though I simply have no choice as I have no time to do all this silly stuff any more. Now all I have to do now is find time to continue assembling the PCBs

Hi Chris

Would these connectors work with your ST Power Supply? Would they be long enough? I have two of your ST power supplies and if I could fit one in my Falcon by just adding one of these connectors then I would be interested in buying a connector from you and fitting it. :)
