will it compute? btl's attempt to build the H4

Post by btl »

Hi,

seems i'm a bit late to the party, haha.

I am not the super-frequent forum poster i've been a decade ago, but the H4 is again
a project that lives from feedback. I'll provide mine in this thread.

email me on beetle (at) atari (dot) org in case i do not respond here quick enough :)

Yesterday the H4 mainboard arrived here in its shiny glory, what a board!!
First i visited my local electronics shop to see what they can provide.
I got a lot of sockets, most TTLs, a couple of diodes and restors to give it a start.

The rest will be ordered online.

cya,

It's okay to be late and slow. Just means you don't have to find the bugs. ;)

Welcome!

Don't think anyone is late as building only started yesterday :) A few people haven't even got their boards yet.

I'll be using a Falcon RAM board also. I upgraded two falcons to the 16mb upgrade from Exxos, so I would like the old ones to be useful.

With the way it is tilting, it looks like it might need a stand off.

TOS, YM, Shifter, MFP and Bad DMA sockets are in...

so, these are the sockets, TTL chips and jumpers that i got in in today's session.
All solder joints have been cleaned and inspected.

I threw two 6850s in as well.
