The whole reason for me buying an Atari and working through all the issues is to make music using Notator. Trying to get the best setup has been troublesome.
EmuTos made the whole thing a lot more pleasant and hides the horrid looking screen. Might be an NTSC thing as this machine doesn't look as good as my old one did on the Trust monitor. Setting the desktop to black or white hides it. I will put up a how to involving Deskpic and how I get around it's annoying tiling.
EmuTos slowed down Notator's menus and edit screens, then adding NVDI made them faster than they were originally.
Last night I noticed this:
Checked loading it from disk and the colon is clear. Going to see if removing Snapit changes anything. After that I will trace back to when it started.
I've had a few freezes, which is why I'm chasing this.
I'll also experiment with changing the Autosort order.
Now I've had a good nights sleep I will try a lot of things out later.
I'll publish clear solution steps when I have finally landed.

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

Re: Notator.
Tried a lot of things out and discovered it isn't NVDI, it's EmuTos causing this apparition.

Re: Notator.
Does this machine have a blitter ? AFAIK EMUTOS only started adding blitter functions recently. You would probably have to report the issue to them eitherway if EMUTOS has some bugs.

Re: Notator.
No, I don't have a Blitter. It's possible no one has tried to use Notator with EmuTos. As stated with the NVDI it's faster. The edit menus open before I've finished pushing the keyboard key down. Notator is a known fussy program as stated on Notator.org. Is there an easy way to report this? Notator would benefit massively from this speed increase!

Re: Notator.
Could you just not not use TOS104 & NVDI ? Why keep going back to EMUTOS if your having problems with it ?

Re: Notator.
Congrats Cosmic Puppet, it seems you've just found a new bug.
Let me report that issue to EmuTOS Team

Re: Notator.
I could. I just like the idea of having shortcuts on the desktop. I could autoboot Notator, but from my experience with 2 machines it tends to crash. I've had times in the early days of this latest setup where I've had to take my SD card over to the PC and delete Notator as it crashed permanently. :lol:exxos wrote: 01 Nov 2019 22:31 Could you just not not use TOS104 & NVDI ? Having the desktop shortcut means I can simply double click, or use another program like music mouse (which also benefits from the speed boost)
I didn't actually know that I could run NVDI without EmuTos. Gonna see what that's like out of curiosity.

Re: Notator.
I used to use it (and previously Creator & then Logic) a lot back in the 80s & 90s...I am trying to find (unpack) & get my setup working again but life keeps getting in the way of hobbies & suchlike!
I ended up using a boot manager (Xboot I think it was) to select between different combinations of accessories & utilities as Notator wasn't compatible with a fair number of my usual programs. :(

Re: Notator.
Just tested it. Feels smoother in EmuTos. It's only a very slight difference which is more felt, but if something feels better I'm inclined to go with that. I love having shortcuts to programs on the desktop. I never imagined I would have that.Cosmic Puppet wrote: 01 Nov 2019 23:11I could. I just like the idea of having shortcuts on the desktop.
