Is there any way to hide these. They are in every partition.

They look like directories made by Windows with long filenames, probably "System Volume Information"
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

I agree, the ~ is normally generated by windows, not TOS.stephen_usher wrote: Wed Oct 30, 2019 9:17 pm They look like directories made by Windows with long filenames, probably "System Volume Information"

Yes definitiely some Windows sytem folders. If I remember correctly, the TOS desktop hides files that have the "system" file attribute set on them, whereas EmuTOS's desk ignores the attribute completely and happily shows them to the unexpecting user.

Oddly, they don't show up when I view the SD card in windows.

I have it set to view hidden files, but you've just made me think that it could be that I used select all when moving files. I'll test it all from scratch using another SD card and just drag and drop only.

You need to turn on the folder option on your PC to show hidden and systems files to see them...Cosmic Puppet wrote: Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:42 pm Oddly, they don't show up when I view the SD card in windows.
