Nova GPU- cards

Post by Bikerbob »

Hey all, I have an ET4000 (1mb) in my NOVA.

I could pick up a Mach32 Ultra Pro 1mb for about $100 CAD. I think i could add 1mb if I could find it.

Point is.. is it THAT much better. I have 1 nova, I find that with the MEGASTE I am not having enough memory left to do much with the machine using the NOVA anyway.. But if its a much better experience $100 is pretty good for ISA Mach32s

The ATI MACH32 with 2MB can do 1280x1024/256 Colors or 800x600/24bit Colors. It is a little bit faster than a ET4000.

In a Atari TT the MACH32 is much faster ...

Right.. So the mach32 in Mega with Panther or MegaSTE VME NOVA.. is good.. maybe a touch better than the Et4000 but not a ton.. and that you did with 2mb.. This card I am looking at is 1mb and the ET4000 I have is 1mb.

a ATI MACH32 in a Panther/2 Adapter with PAK68/3-030 is faster than in a Atari TT. Only in a Mega STE the MACH32 is slow ...

Well I put the offer in and it was accepted. Cheapest ISA Mach32 in a while. But as said in other threads it would be the future pipe dream to just have a new made for the machines adaptor. that fit inside and looked neat and clean. But until then. :)

The ATI cards are to big. may be cut the ISA Slot pins the put the card up site down on a adapter board into the VME bus slot ?
