Flash ROM

Post by 8 Bit Dreams »

Hello,
i have some questions about flash ROM that is placed on TF534.
How can i program and use it?
Is new firmware is needed to activate it?
Can i program it separately before soldering on the board?

Have asked about on last live stream, but got no answer, unfortunately...

Use flashrom to read and write it. There is a github fork with it on. It’s not very useful

Oh...
was under impression i can use it to write Kickstart into it, so users doesn't need to install 3.1 KS to be able to use TF534's IDE....

At present yes. I never implemented this feature because the CPLD didnt have enough space.

Hmm.. haven't found nothing flashrom+Amiga related, hence was my questions here..
So i can solder this flash chip on an adapter, flash KS 3.1 in it, and it will be detected on boot (original KS rom will be ignored)?

No its mapped only via the SPI interface. Not as a ROM. I'm probably never going to do get it working as a ROM.

The software to read and write the rom is here.

https://github.com/terriblefire/flashrom

Needs built with amiga-gcc
