Arananet's TF330 Build

Hi,

I just build one of the TF330 rev3 that Stephen sent me. This board is really easy to solder, I don't know if its because it only has one CPLD or what but I build and flash it in about 20min. Only get a little problem with the jumper, I forget about the position. Thankfully there are some pics here that help me with that.

I write an small article in my blog. Is in spanish but it can be easily translated with Google bad translator or bing.

Takes me about 45 mins but im not organized. The 030 socket is the worst part. There arent many components and the values repeat often. It was designed to be easy to assemble.

It takes me about 40 mins to do the bottom, mostly cause of through hole stuff and about 40 to do the top.

I have a JBC AR5800 station. I use this solder tip.

Flux based water.

The rest is just damn fast. The ram memory almost solder itself. I don't have any device to grab a video of the soldering but I grab some soldering a RE1200 board a few days back.

I can't buy water-based flux in Canada anymore. I used to have a small bottle and loved it. Now for some reason it's illegal to import it from the United States so I have to use the rosin based maple-syrup like stuff. It's works well but it's very sticky and very messy and you have to soak the boards in alcohol for at least 8 hours to get rid of it. I am buying litres of isopropyl alcohol every month to get rid of it. Very annoying.

No, that thing stinks, I have no way of ventilating my room and it's still like -10 outside so I can't even open the windows yet.

I use a fan with a carbon filter on it. Helps a lot.
A kludge is a workaround or quick-and-dirty solution that is clumsy, inelegant, inefficient, difficult to extend and hard to maintain.
