I've mentioned on your other thread, but the shield isn't really necessary unless you want the machine to be "historically correct".
My STEs and at least half of my STs run without one quite happily. The other half I just happened to reassemble that way and I'm sure they'd be fine either way.

Approx 20 STs, including a 520 STM, 520 STFMs, 3x Mega ST, MSTE & 2x 32 Mhz boosted STEs
Plus the rest, totalling around 50 machines including a QL, 3x BBC Model B, Electron, Spectrums, ZX81 etc...

Top shield?? Who even puts the top of the case on. Much easier to reconfigure when the boards available. I did almost burn down Britain this way but there's a risk no matter what ya do. Did it feel a little warn in Britain yesterday?
