Ceramic capacitor supply problems MLCC

Post by terriblefire »

Yesterday I went to resupply my 0603 caps.. I was out

To my suprise I couldn’t get any of the values I wanted from RS but more surprisingly I couldn’t back order any either!!!

Some googling and I came across...

https://www.ttiinc.com/content/ttiinc/e ... 80302.html

Yikes!

I’m not looking for a source btw just incase people start posting links to digikey or mouser etc. Just thought this was interesting

I have been noticing in the recent months a general difficulty to obtain certain ceramic caps at a reasonable price and as usual only buying bulk was the way to reduce these costs, and even on Ebay the prices are already going crazy for small quantities

This is not good news as its states in the article you linked to that `Domestic Consumers` are going to find it harder in the future to source ceramic capacitors, not good :(

I think I'm going to just buy a 10,000 reel of both the 1uF and 100nF... maybe the 10uF too.
