Internal UltraSatan

Post by exxos »

My Xmas pressies arrived :D
IMG_3350.JPG

So my initial thought was having this mounted like this.. So the cards are above the sockets at the back...

Though I really didn't like the awkwardness of rear mounting the SD cards...

So the only other place it could possibly go, is underneath the floppy drive..

Ultrasatan Would probably fit under the drive if there was no ICs on the motherboard... Or if they are, not in sockets and strategically placed not to squash up anything large on ultrasatan..

I'm assuming the small black connector to program header for the chip.. As it is pretty tall, it may have to be removed..

Likely a socket could be mounted for power and DMA port.. If it was all done it the right heights, ultrasatan would basically become a pluggable expansion card. Then the CF cards would just need some slots cutting underneath the floppy drive in the case to allow stick out a bit..

Nice Xmas present to one's self :)

Would work nicely with a Gotek I guess instead of a real floppy drive and may allow getting all the SD slots to poke out the original floppy slot with each stacked on top of each other.

Aha, this is point where you're going to show me your 'wall of ultrasatans', right?

I'm still waiting for my copy of PP's drivers though, I'm so eager to try them out. Maybe he's ill or something, haven't heard anything in 8 days. Hope he's well.

I've been wondering if its worth adding a internal ultrasatan "option" or not ?, since we have the IDE interface pretty much sorted, it can be used as a plug in module anyway, so I think it renders using ultrasatan a little "pointless" . I'm just thinking that its a lot of work to get it all to align and fit and moving about chips etc.. When ultimately , IDE can be a plug in board on a expansion header and that can go anyway really.

The internal DMA port is there, so things can be added, but with space and time always a factor, I am wondering if its really worth the trouble ?

Did PP get back to you, I heard from him right away and had the drivers the same day.

I have to say they are very good, work a treat with my CosmosEx, which is essentially a single SD UltraSatan. And yes, I can access the partitions under Windows, which is great!

For €10 they are a bargain.

Yeah, he was just very busy moving at the time and he didn't have an internet connection for a while.

So after a while I got the drivers and indeed, they're very good.
