I received a TOS 2.06 upgrade kit for my Mega STe from Chris this week and am not having luck getting the machine to boot with the new ROMs installed. From everything I see on the web the HI chip is on the left and the LOW is on the right. Does this look right? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Pete

DO NOT USE MOBILE / CGNAT DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

TOS 2.06 Mega STe
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
Yeah that's correct.
What do you get when it tries to boot? What TOS did you have before and was that working?

Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
How many pins did the ROM's have you took out ?
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
The TOS 2.05 chips I took out have the same number of pins as the 2.06 ones I purchased. I put the 2.05 ROMs back in and they work fine. Swapped the 2.06 in and out a half dozen times without success. I just thought maybe I had installed the ROMs incorrectly. Oh well, maybe I'll buy another set sometime and try again.
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
You can send them back for a re-test if you like, they are all tested before they are sent out and never known any not work in a machine.. I guess you could swap HI & LO just in case I stuck the stickers on wrong.Fletch wrote: Wed Aug 22, 2018 3:22 am The TOS 2.05 chips I took out have the same number of pins as the 2.06 ones I purchased. BTW - the pin on the left chip , bottom left, pin looks like its bent and missed the socket ?
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
I hastily reinstalled the chips to take the picture of how I had installed them. I put them in many times before this. So yes, in the picture the pin appears to have missed the socket, but not during use.
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
I will send you out a new set in a few days. Though I don't know why they wouldn't work, they are all verified before they are sent out.Fletch wrote: Thu Aug 23, 2018 11:56 am I hastily reinstalled the chips to take the picture of how I had installed them. Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
I appreciate that. I have no idea either.
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
Did you try swapping HI & LO ?
Re: TOS 2.06 Mega STe
Chris,
The replacement ROMS arrived today and they worked immediately. Thanks so much for sending them.
I did try swapping them around on the original set. No go.
The new ones you sent are great though.
Thanks again,
Pete
