Phil C's Raven build
Re: Phil C's Raven build
Been messing about a bit with the Raven today, making sure it's all as reliable as I can get it before I put it in the new case that arrived yesterday.
I've settled so far on using the Mach32 as it's so much quicker than the ET4000 cards that I have.
The only issue I have with the Mach32 is that it doesn't like the bios resolutions. In either 640 or 800 red mono it gives me a striped screen.but on anything else it works fine (or will go once I've upgraded it to 2mb, chips have been ordered).
@agranlund is there any chance we could have a couple more resolution in the bios section? For instance 640x480x8 works great at the desktop.
Here's what it looks like in 800x600x2

If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: Phil C's Raven build
@luciodra I managed to get my network card working by setting it to 300h address. It boots fine with both the graphics cards connected. Next I have to get Mint installed.

Re: Phil C's Raven build
Good for you. For me an unsolvable enigma...
Raven 060 rev 6 96MHz
ET4000AX 1Mb T0
PicoGUS 2.0
ET4000AX 1Mb T0
PicoGUS 2.0
Re: Phil C's Raven build
I still can't connect to uip tool though on my Mac.
Maybe make yourself another boot disk to rule that out?

Re: Phil C's Raven build
Could it be that rvbios is not the first item launched from the auto folder?PhilC wrote: Sat May 17, 2025 3:41 pm The only issue I have with the Mach32 is that it doesn't like the bios resolutions. (it's not clever about current screen config and assumes it's what was set up by the bootrom -- partly because I'm lazy and partly because the intention was to move it into the bootrom at some point where it will run before other auto programs anyway)
Re: Phil C's Raven build
@agranlund rvbios is first in the auto folder.
See, sometimes I do pay attention to instructions

Re: Phil C's Raven build
After setting the network card to address 300h and IRQ10 I was able to connect to the Raven using FTP.
I am using FTPZilla with the following settings.
And this is the card I am using.
I've ordered a few NE2000 compatible cards and will test them and put the details in the Raven section of the forum once tested.

Re: Phil C's Raven build
I ordered a full 060 rev 6 yesterday from Japan, it's apparently been tested in an Amiga A4000. Now all I've got to do is wait another 3 or 4 days and it'll be here.
I hate waiting for stuff to turn up

Re: Phil C's Raven build
I wonder if there are many more legit rev 6 to be found out there (and what they might cost as they become increasingly rare)?PhilC wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 4:01 pm I ordered a full 060 rev 6 yesterday from Japan, it's apparently been tested in an Amiga A4000. I'm sure you will find something else to keep you busy Phil
