The N64 has landed
Re: The N64 has landed
Looks nice. Hope you like playing it, if even for a little while.
If you ever come across a sensibly priced Sega 32x, that is what I'm hunting at the moment, let me know.
Boxed and tested ones here in the UK are about £350->£450 and unboxed and tested about £250 whereas untested ones are about £130.
They suffer from capacitor leakage and people regularly loose the peripherals (power supply, video pass through cables, Megadrive 2 adapter collar)

Re: The N64 has landed
Will do, no problem, though like you say prices are high. There is a boxed one on eBay now (Sega 32X) but bidding is already at £295 with 2 days left to go. I expect the price will only go up. There are others, but starting at over £400, so it's getting daft.alexh wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2024 2:21 pm Looks nice. Hope you like playing it, if even for a little while.

Not sure if you've tried Japanese auction sites, though not entirely sure they were released there.
The N64 is interesting for sure, feeling it more now I have one, though how much I'll play I don't know.
I'm considering taking some consoles to France with me where I have duplication, though I do have to say that one of the reasons for that place is to get away from it all, so we'll see

Re: The N64 has landed
Well, the battery backed memory card for the N64 controller arrived today, and it works great
It did put up a fight though, first I had to replace the 2032 battery as just over 1v wasn't going to cut it, then, despite cleaning the edge connector, it just wouldn't show.
So, a splash of Electrolube on the socket in the controller followed by lots of insertion/removal and eventually it started to work. Sooo, now I can save games
What's missing however is my Everdrive type cart from Ali Express. No sign of it yet and it was supposedly delivered to Wigston in Leicestershire on the 8th November, so 10 days ago. What's worse is that the Ali Express store is showing as 'on holiday' and has been for more than a week, so chasing them is just not possible ATM.
Sighs...

Re: The N64 has landed
Well, it's now been 18 days since my N64 Everdrive from Ali Express was delivered to Leicester, which is not where I live and about 2 or more hours away.
I've now lodged a refund request for the store in question and Ali Express to deal with it since I have tried to contact the store but they've been 'on vacation' for the last 18 days.
What a bloody pain. Let's see what happens.

Re: The N64 has landed
Order a new one from a different vendor and if the other arrives, someone here would take it off your hands for cost I'm sure. Maybe order a gamebit screwdriver at the sametime if you don't have one (It's for Nintendo's security screws that were used up to the N64)

I'm going to order a replacement for sure, though I seriously doubt the other will arrive now. If it does you'll see it herealexh wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 2:18 pm Order a new one from a different vendor and if the other arrives, someone here would take it off your hands for cost I'm sure. I have gamebit drivers already, I think they either came with a kit for some other Nintendo upgrade, or I ordered them specifically for a Nintendo job in the past, though what it was escapes me now!!

Re: The N64 has landed
Fair play to Ali Express, they've issued a full refund for the missing cart, and I've ordered a replacement.
I only put the request in yesterday too, and the new cart has been dispatched already as well.
Let's hope it gets delivered to the right place! To be fair to AE this I've only had 2 items that didn't arrive, and both times I've had a refund.

Re: The N64 has landed
@rubber_jonnie I've had a few things go missing from orders placed on AliExpress and fair play to them, they have refunded quickly each time.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
